My Classroom

Classroom Tour 2014-2015

I know this is kind of late in the year, but since I just started this thing new adventure, I wanted to share some things that I have been doing in my classroom so far this year!  We will start at the beginning...you know...the two weeks before school starts and all your things are shoved to the side, desks in the corner, chairs stacked to the ceiling...well in my case, since I was coming into a new district, all my things were in boxes.

I have a window! I was in a "cave" in my last school.  No windows anywhere!

Well, after much blood, sweat and tears many hours, I was finally able to finish this "home away from home" for my Thirdsters.  :)  I really wasn't finish until the end of the first week of school but never to late to take some pictures of some of the learning we were doing that first week.

Owls are kind of my thing, so you will see many of them. :)

I found these super cute job cards thanks to Amy Groesbeck!
You can buy them HERE!

I have to be organized in order to function! Can I get a witness?!?! Haha
I found these awesome labels from Amy Groesbeck HERE!
She also has labels for any kind of literacy and math station tub!

Of course our word wall. Coming from 1st grade I know how beneficial it is to have one.
I got my alphabet letters from Ladybug Teacher Files HERE!

This is my Writing Center.  Students have all their supplies, vocabulary journals, and writing prompts that they can choose from.  I also love mason jars and found a wonderful seller on Etsy that sells these painted ones!

The Writer's Workshop poster that you see is not there anymore. I saw this wonderful anchor chart from 3rd Grade Thoughts however, we ended up going a different direction for Writer's Workshop. In order to be a good teacher, you need to be able to change to the needs of you classroom! :)

This is probably my most favorite place in the classroom...our Classroom Library!  I came into a BAZILLION chapter books over the summer, since I was moving up to Third.  I still have all my picture books, so combined I have about 350 books in my library!  I LOVE IT!!

So in order to stay organized, I used the Scholastic Book Wizard to help me organize my books by genre.  We study a lot about genre in Third Grade so I figured that was the best way to do it.
I got the book bin labels from Amy Groesbeck HERE.

I also found these adorable genre cards by Rachel Lamb on TPT.  You can get them HERE!

I found a wonderful idea on Pinterest for holding those pesky water bottles!  I got a shoe organizer at Walmart and viola!  Instant water bottle holder!

This is my Math wall.  If you haven't noticed I have a wall for pretty much every subject.  I will post soon about our Math wall and how I have utilized the Guided Math framework in my classroom.

Thank you for taking a tour of my classroom!  We have had an exciting year so far this year and I look forward to sharing more of the fun times that we have here in Third Grade!
